Flaky Homemade Toaster Strudel

Flaky Homemade Toaster Strudel

Course Breakfast, Dessert

  • 1 package roll-out pie dough you can make the dough yourself but this is quick way to get it done!
  • 1 egg to brush on-top of dough

Berry Filling

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries you could also use your favorite jam in the fridge!
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1/3 cup canned coconut cream
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar

  1. Cover counter in flour and lay out the dough. Slice into rectangles. With excess pieces of dough: bring together, roll out, and cut into rectangles until dough is gone! Put aside.

  2. Mix together berry filling over medium heat on stove-top. Once everything is fully combined transfer into mesh bag and squeeze over a bowl to remove seeds and clumps of berries. Add in arrowroot powder, mix together, and set in fridge for 30 minutes or until thick. (you could also just use your favorite jam here!)

  3. scoop jam (about 1 tbsp) onto one piece of rectangle dough – place another piece of dough on top and use a fork to seal all four sides! make light lines with a knife on top and finish off by using a basting brush to get some egg on top before popping into the oven so it gets nice and golden.

  4. Pop into the oven at 370F for about 15-20 minutes or until they look golden brown.

  5. For glaze warm the coconut cream over stove top (or microwave) and add in the the powdered sugar! Apply once pop tarts have cooled. Enjoy!
